The Zune.

I was thinking about my short yet ever changing history on the world, the most modern of modern times. Technology has revolutionized things a bit, changed our daily lives here and there, for example the way I get excited to use the inernet after a couple of days away from it. The ability to check any fact or odd question of life, by looking for a reliable source online. Yet as connected as it makes us there is always the concern that somehow it keep those who feel no need to be social to delve further into themselves and their computers.

I wondered last night in the popularity of the so called "emo" movement or music is any way connected to the development of the MP3 player. The vision of the messy haired boy sitting in the corner with his white headphones seems to be a popular one in the past years. Is the resurgence of self exploring lyrics filled with emotional and rhyming words been due to the ability to not have to talk to anyone. I mean you can't easily pretend to not hear anything while having your headphones on, a modern day cloaking device so to speak. Do bands like death cab for cutie, fall out boy, my chemical romance, owe some of their popularity to this new technology are these music trends connected in a more distant aloof way then the mix tape craze of the 80's was a spawn of the Hip Hop indie rock generation.

thats all
