Tonight I got my first hit of reality biking in the snow, the ever present reminder that your traction can easily go to nothing on a bump or a quarter inch ledge change by unsteady rock movement under the concrete. Well the goop they smear in the cracks didn't help at all as my tire caught and sent me down to the road like Pete Rose into first base. I know my frisbee coach would have been proud at the arm extension and flatness of my chest to the ground. If not for the intermittent snow that fell this evening I would surely be facing somewhat more painful injuries. The snow converted luckily turned my forward energy into a movement most commonly seen on childrens toy's know as "slip and slides" and like a slip and slip ontop of rough ground I may have a bruise tomorrow. In return nothing more then a reminder of danger and limits to my abilities, it's like GI Joe said, knowing is half the battle.
