The more I learn sometimes in class the more disenfranchised I become towards the world. Learning about the advent of globalization (this word is so new it doesn't register in spell check) and how great it is, makes me think that nothing bad in the world isn't somehow connected to something good, I become less enthralled with Bill Gates after learning that Microsoft has factories overseas. Learning that News has to be sold like any other product because it doesn't make money by existing, it needs ads, and companies that run ads have to know that the news is being bought. Thats stocks have become something you pay people to invest your money in, and if you make money by investing in multinational companies then aren't you partly accountable if that company has factories overseas that treat their workers with less human dignity then you would allow someone to treat your family.
Of course this leads down a slippery slope of unimaginable hatred of the world, and I don't hate, this computer is awesome, technology is pushing me to love.

I don't think there is a slippery slope that the things you're talking about lead down to.

None of this is new ... it simply is the way that the world is.

But I'm glad you like the idea of a space elevator. Hope we don't disapoint you by being a for profit venture when we build one.

On the other hand a company is the sum of the individuals who run it; it's possible to be an ethical capitalist.
